Year composed: 2014
Instrumentation: guitar solo
Duration (approx.): ca. 5′
NOTES:
This is a solo guitar arrangement of a guitar quartet piece by the same name.
The guitar holds a special place in my heart; it was my first instrument. Toccata Lot of Nerve, aside from having a silly title, is a kind of homage to an earlier time in my musical development; one that was wrought with the rhythms and grooves of rock and roll and heavy metal. This piece is a merging of my past influences with my formal training, and was incredibly fun to write. It’s my hope that this piece is played with the same kind of extroversion one would use when filling an amphitheater with the sound of distorted guitars.
